Simon has been teaching drums since 2017. As well as teaching privately, he has taught drums for 13 schools, plus for Hogan Music, The Rock Project, and Rocksteady Music school - where he taught music to 300+ schoolchildren on a weekly basis.
ASSURANCE
Simon graduated from a Music academy with a BMus(Hons) in Professional Music Performance, and earned a Distinction in his grade 8 drum exam. His students boast an average drum exam score of 83% (out of 31 exams)

FAQ's
Do I need a drum kit at home to start lessons?
For studio lessons, not at all! For your initial lessons, a set of drumsticks and a practice pad (or even a pillow) are all you will need. As your lessons develop, having access to an acoustic or electronic drum kit is highly encouraged. This will hugely increase lesson productivity, and will enable you to progress in between lessons through home practice.
How much are regular lessons after the free taster?
Regular studio lesson prices are £26.50 per 30mins. These can either be booked on an ad-hoc basis, or like most longer term students - set up via direct debit. Typically, regular students receive 3 lessons per month, which would equate to a monthly direct debit of £79.50 for a student having 30min lessons.
What ages do you teach?
I teach all ages from 6 to adult,. For younger musicians, lessons typically focus on rhythm, foundational co-ordination and the essential grooves. For teens and adults, lessons are usually tailored to your personal goals such as drum exams, band performances or simply playing your favourite songs! But there's no 'one size fits all'. All lessons are tailored specifically to each individual student, and what they're looking to achieve with their drumming!.
Should we buy an acoustic or electronic drum kit for home practice?
If you're just getting started, either option will serve you absolutely fine! Whilst acoustic drum kits are ideal for home practice, electric kits are usually the more practical option, and will be sufficient until about grade 6 standard.
From this stage onwards, an acoustic kit is recommended due to the advanced stick response and techniques required for songs/drum beats of this level. I'm very happy to give you recommendations for both kit styles too!
