Testimonials
ANON, PARENT
My daughter is naturally shy but you have really managed to bring her out of her shell and boost her confidence. She really looks forward to her lessons and as a parent I can't ask for much more than that. I cannot praise the work you are doing more highly and I would not hesitate to recommend you to any child looking to learn a new, fun, energetic skill.
PHIL, PARENT
Drumming has really helped my daughter as an outlet for her stresses and anxieties, and has really boosted her confidence. Simon is so patient and encouraging with all ages and abilities whether in person or on zoom. He is such a great teacher and I would recommend him to anyone and everyone.
KATIE, CLIENT
You were incredibly professional, and whilst eavesdropping on the lesson, I could hear how much you enjoyed teaching - you are a natural. My husband really enjoyed the session and we'll definitely be in touch to book some more lessons. Thanks for making my husband feel like a teenager again!
Why Choose Me?
Experience
I started playing the Drums in 2003 and have been teaching music full time since 2017. This included teaching music to over 300 schoolchildren a week. As well as developing many teaching techniques, this also gave me invaluable experience teaching music to children with special educational needs.
Relevance
At 26 years old, my education and learning experiences are still very fresh in my mind. I find it very easy to relate to primary and secondary school children (language, trends, music tastes etc), maybe more so than an older music teacher would! That said, music is a universal language and I'm extremely comfortable teaching all ages and abilities.
Convenience
All lessons take place at your home, and for 1-to-1 lessons an electric kit can even be provided for a small kit hire fee. This means as a parent or guardian, you don't need to worry about driving to a studio, get stuck in traffic or rush to buy any expensive musical equipment!
Assurance
My qualifications include a BA(Hons) Degree and Higher Diploma in Professional Music Performance, and a Distinction in my Rockschool Grade 8 Drum exam. I'm also fully DBS checked, so you can rest assured that you're in safe hands.

How far are you willing to travel?
Most lessons take place around Newbury and Thatcham. Occasionally I teach as far as Great Shefford and Hermitage, so I'm happy to teach further afield if my teaching schedule allows. Lessons outside of a 10 mile radius from (RG19) will likely be subject to a small fee to cover fuel expenses. For full lesson terms, please refer to my tuition guideline and terms.
Who can learn to play the Drums?
Anyone! You're never too young or too old to start learning the drums. I'm extremely happy teaching all ages and abilities and lesson content can be planned accordingly. For more information around the benefits of drumming, check out my blog page!
Should we invest in a drum kit?
It is highly recommended that students have a drum kit at home (either acoustic or electronic) to practice at home, and to use during lessons. If students have the right musical equipment, their practice time will be more productive, and in turn, they will progress more during their drum lessons.
What equipment do you provide?
For students who don't have a kit, I can provide an Equipment bundle for £4 per lesson. This includes a Yamaha DTX-432K electric drum kit, a Sub-Zero Drum Monitor, drumsticks, drum stool and all necessary wires/cables. All I'll need is access to 2 plug sockets, and enough space to set up the equipment.
Do you offer taster lessons?
Absolutely - I'm currently offering a completely free 30 minute taster lesson for all students who are interested in having drum lessons. I will even provide my own equipment free of charge for the taster lesson. Get in touch to book your free 30 minute taster lesson here
